#AFprotips | Hair Color Hacks

Howdy, Fox Fam! We’re here with another set of #AFProTips for you, but this time, we’re hearing it from you! We asked our Fox Fam Facebook group what some of their best Haircare Hacks are, and we’ve curated some of the top tips to share with you. We've got a few of our own too!
1. Using semi-permanent hair color like a toner: As far as toner goes, it essentially deposits color into your hair with a low volume developer. But if you want to tone your super light blonde hair (without lightening it any further) you can use Periwinkle or Girls Night as a toner. We got this idea from YOU! We've seen the videos!
2. Making the most out of your color: Can't get the last few drops of color out? Add some white, sulfate-free conditioner into your AF bottle and shake her up. Then use as a colored conditioner. You're welcome.
3. Make your own Purple Shampoo: A lot of our Fox Fam have done this by adding in a dollop of Purple AF and Poseidon to their shampoo! Sounds pretty easy to us!
Here are some hot takes straight out of the Fox Fam Group on FB...

Keera has some great tips! Checking ingredients is a big one - you always want to know exactly what’s going on your hair!

Vaseline chapstick?! Way easier than trying to slather it all over your hairline and inevitably having to wash your greasy face afterward. Thanks, Joseph!

Too true! Lorena and Dani are both right - the lighter your base, the cleaner a blue on top will turn out. Or you can use a bit of purple to have a toning effect for a more indigo hue!

Yes, Danielle!! We always recommend using a color remover meant specifically for semi-permanent direct dyes if you’re wanting to strip the color. And understanding the color will make it easy peasy to mix up any custom shade you’d like!

I love Anastasia’s tip about using newspaper! Preventing stains in the first place is way easier than trying to scrub them out of a countertop! Bonus tip: if you rinse your hair in the sink in cold water its usually a lot less messy!

Of course, it happens to the best of us! But Rachel and Amy have some great tips on what to use if you do get color on your sink or tub. And here’s another hack for you: if you stain your sink you can dab toothpaste on the spot, let it sit, then rinse 20 minutes later!

Claire has some great color-saving tips! They can seem like small steps, but they all really add up to a longer life for your color.

Alania and Dani aren’t afraid to get creative! Of course, you can always check out our multipack of bowls and brushes if you’re about that color-coordinated life. ;)
