AF Culture | Black Lives Matter
Black Lives Matter To our unified Fox Fam, We want to speak to you about the events happening in the last week. We spent this time learning, listening and educating ourselves about the racial injustice that is happening in our own country. We know it’s important to use our platform to speak up. But we can do better than just speaking up. We, like many of you, have spent this past week feeling heartbroken, enraged, exhausted among other things. What we don't want to feel is helpless. We are having conversations within our team about how we can improve our own company culture by being more inclusive in all areas including hiring. We will continue the conversation on how to be anti-racist all year long and how to do our part not just this week, but always. We are listening and we are renewing our commitment to diversity across the brand. We have work to do. We have made an initial donation to Color of Change and in addition to this, we are committed to making a large donation for the month of June. We encourage you to contribute directly as well if you are able. Below is a list of organizations that are taking action in the Black Lives Matter movement. In an effort to let other voices be heard at this time, we will be canceling upcoming promotional sales and taking a step back from posting hair-focused pictures on social media. Throughout this week we will be sharing resources on our Instagram stories to help protect, educate, and inform you and they can also be found under the “Alliance” highlight. We see you, we hear you and we stand with you. We are inspired by you. Stay strong and don’t give up hope. We will achieve justice and equality together. XO, The AF Team BLM organizations you can donate to: Minnesota Healing Justice Network www.minnesotahealingjusticenetwork.com The Minnesota Healing Justice Network is a collaborative network of over 100 community healers, bodyworkers & birthworkers, therapists & herbalists, artists & educators, nurses & more centering the wellness of black and brown families through mutual aid, health equity and solidarity. National Bail Out www.nationalbailout.org The National Bail Out collective is a Black-led and Black-centered collective of abolitionist organizers, lawyers and activists building a community-based movement to support our folks and end systems of pretrial detention and ultimately mass incarceration. We are people who have been impacted by cages — either by being in them ourselves or witnessing our families and loved ones be encaged. We are queer, trans, young, elder, and immigrant. Color Of Change www.colorofchange.org Color Of Change is the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. We help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us. As a national online force driven by 1.7 million members, we move decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America. Reclaim The Block www.reclaimtheblock.org A coalition to demand that Minneapolis divest from policing and invest in long-term alternatives that promote healthier, safer, more diverse communities. Black Visions Collective www.blackvisionsmn.org BLVC is committed to a long term vision in which ALL Black lives not only matter, but are able to thrive. Through the development of powerful strategic campaigns, we seek to expand the power of Black people across the Twin Cities metro area and Minnesota. This can look like delivering mobilization and action goals as part of a national coalition in which Black lives are centered, but it most often looks like visioning and leading targeted collaborative local campaigns that advance a concrete impact for people’s lives here, while also advancing a shift in public narrative that connects to transformative long-term change.
